P&P Charges

We try to be competitive on the price of all of our materials but to do this we have to charge the real costs of postage.
Many other retailers hide the 'free' or 'cheap' postage in the cost of their materials and then send out the package by second class postage or by 5 day courier delivery.

Each item on our website is weighed and the postage cost is calculated on the actual total weight of your order.

UK Orders
For UK orders we can send your packet either Royal Mail's 1st Class Small Parcel Service (with proof of postage) or Royal Mail's Special Delivery Service

However we strongly recommend that you select Royal Mail Special Delivery as the postage option if your order is worth more than £20.

There are a number of reasons for this:

Firstly the package is fully insured (up to £500), is fully trackable and requires a signature on delivery. Therefore if the package goes missing or is damaged we will send a replacement package (without question) and will take on the investigation with the Royal Mail on your behalf.

Secondly Royal Mail Special Delivery will reach you faster - it is guaranteed by 1pm the next working day from the day of posting - remember we aim to post all orders within 24 hours of receipt (or 10% off your next order!)

However if you select the cheaper 1st class (with proof of postage) option there isn't any tracking or insurance. So if the packet goes missing or is damaged we would provide you with a copy of the proof of posting, but you as the recipient would be responsible for investigating the missing package with the Post Office and making a claim for the value of the contents. Royal Mail have set a maximum compensation value of £20 for non-insured 1st class post - so regardless of the actual value of the contents the maximum compensation you will receive is £20.

People have asked why we don't use the Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Service (used to be called Recorded Delivery) - the simple answer is that it only provides a signature on delivery, so is great for tracking the parcel but it still has the £20 maximum compensation rule. Therefore if it goes missing or is damaged the extra you have paid for the service, in our opinion, gives you no extra benefit.

Please note for parcels heavier than 20kg we use the Parcelforce Express 48 service. The standard service includes signature on delivery and also has an included compensation cover of £100. The Parcelforce Express 48 (Insured) service is the same as above and requires a signature on delivery but has extended compensation up to £500. Both services will deliver your parcel within 48 hours of posting. As before if your parcel is worth more than the standard compensation value (£100) we strongly urge you select the option with the extra insurance.

Postage outside the UK

Our postage charges for overseas are based on Royal Mail's Airmail service or Airmail Insured & Signed service

For countries that the Royal Mail have deemed to be in Europe you will have the Airmail (Europe) or Airmail Insured (Europe) options. For all other countries you will have the Airmail (Rest of World) or Airmail Insured (Rest of World) option.

We strongly recommend that you select Airmail Insured as the postage option if your order is worth more than £20.

The main reason for this is that your parcel is fully insured (up to £250), is fully trackable and requires a signature on delivery. Therefore if the package goes missing or is damaged we will send a replacement package and will take on the investigation with the Royal Mail on your behalf.

However if you select the cheaper standard Airmail option there isn't any tracking or insurance. So if the packet goes missing or is damaged we would not send a replacement parcel and would only refund you for the maximum compensation value of £20 that Royal Mail have set a for non-insured Airmail parcel. So regardless of the actual value of the contents of your parcel the maximum compensation you will receive from us is £20.

2kg is the maximum weight for Airmail or Airmail Insured. Therefore for parcels heavier than 2kg we use the Parcelforce Global Value service. The standard service includes compensation cover of £100 and has delivery times starting at 4 working days.

The Parcelforce Global Value (Insured) service is the same as above but has extended compensation up to £250. As before if your parcel is worth more than the standard compensation value (£100) we strongly urge you select the option with the extra insurance.

Your parcel will come with a customs declaration of their contents (for locations outside of the EU). We will ensure that all the necessary paperwork is completed for export out of the UK but you as the recipient will be responsible for any required import documentation. If an item requires export paperwork that requires an additional cost we will contact you to see if you want us to proceed.

With all packages sent abroad the recipient will be responsible for any import documentation, taxes, import charges, duty, handling fees etc that are levied by the country receiving the package.
